Find Iredell Civil Dockets

Start with the case number or a party name. That is the fastest way into an Iredell County civil docket search. The Clerk of Superior Court in Iredell County keeps the civil court records, and the statewide Portal search layer opens them to the public. A good search can turn up the case history for a civil filing, a scheduled hearing, or a recorded result. Read the Register of Actions next, since it lists dated events in order. One caution: a Portal result is not a certified court document, and some files or fields stay restricted even when the docket itself is public.

Searching Iredell County Civil Dockets

Iredell County moved to eCourts in October 2025. The North Carolina eCourts Portal then became the online home for its civil docket. Smart Search takes a case number or a party name. Use last name first. Setting Location to Iredell trims the statewide noise. Advanced Filters add party criteria like a date-of-birth range. The menus also cover Case Type and Case Status together. But a filter alone cannot run a search.

Click the underlined case number to open the Register of Actions or Case Summary. Depending on the case, results can show Causes of Action, Hearings, Financial Information, and Dispositions. Registration is not required. The official Portal guide also documents a wildcard you can use after the first known name for certain indexed name variations.

  1. Search with the exact civil case number when available, or a last-name, first-name query.
  2. Choose Iredell Location and a relevant Case Type only when needed.
  3. Open the underlined number and read the Register in date order.
  4. Check Hearings or Search Hearings for the current setting.
  5. Use the Civil Department or Clerk counter for a file, copy, or certification.

Iredell Civil Case Type Filters

Portal's published civil options run from Civil General, Civil Magistrate, and Civil Foreclosure to Summary Ejectment, domestic categories, special proceedings, estates, incompetency, and name changes. The filter list helps narrow an Iredell civil docket search. It is not a promise of matching public documents across every category. Picking a Case Type leaves the Case Status menu untouched. A wrong status choice can hide a relevant case.

For a wider view, the Judicial Branch civil caseload report tracks annual county context for civil superior, district, small claims, estates, and special proceedings. It is a context source. It is not a live Iredell docket search. Its county civil-filings table cannot substitute for a case lookup.

A live civil case still requires Portal or the Iredell Clerk. A statewide statistics table is no substitute.

For a live case, go to Portal or the Iredell Clerk, not a statewide statistics table.

Inside a Iredell County Civil Docket

Think of the civil Register as a dated history. It is not a uniform packet of every pleading. Per the official guide, a civil case may show Causes of Action, Hearings, Financial Information, a Register, and Dispositions. That does not mean every Iredell civil docket includes a judge's name, a pleading image, a judgment amount, or full party detail. Read any result as an indexed case history. When the document itself matters, request an official copy.

Case numberThe case link that opens the Iredell Case Summary.
Cause of actionA conditional section for Civil, Family, and Probate or Mental Health categories.
RegisterChronological filings, service, motions, notices, orders, and later activity.
HearingsConditional date, time, location, and setting information.
DispositionA recorded status or outcome that should be read with subsequent entries.

Iredell Civil Division Line

Division depends on the claim or proceeding. District Court is generally the civil trial division for matters at or below $25,000, while Superior Court is generally proper above that amount. The statutory threshold appears in G.S. 7A-243. Both divisions are part of the county’s single Clerk and Portal record system, not separate local databases.

The civil-division statute frames the amount boundary used in this Iredell routing rule.

A case's division gives search and setting context; its Register remains the place to read dated activity.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

An Iredell civil docket search covers far more than ordinary civil general cases. Portal sorts filings into categories. Civil Magistrate, foreclosure, and summary ejectment lead the list. Domestic, estate, special-proceeding, incompetency, and name-change cases appear too. The category shapes the search and can hint at the court route. It cannot override sealing, confidentiality, or limits on specific documents.

  • Civil General matters use the ordinary civil category.
  • Civil Magistrate matters include eligible small claims.
  • Summary Ejectment is a published Portal case type.
  • Foreclosure and special proceedings have their own listed categories.
  • Domestic and estate-related categories may have additional access limits.

For statutory small claims, Article 19 sets out the magistrate route and the $10,000 cap when assignment is requested.

A Small Claims Appeal can change the court path, so give later Register entries the most weight.

Iredell Thursday Civil Calendar Call

Iredell District Civil runs a local calendar call at 9:00 a.m. on the Thursday before each term. It schedules cases for the following week. Weather, a holiday, or another obstacle can block it. In that case the presiding judge or chief district judge sets another date before the term and sends notice as soon as practical. So a calendar-call entry is a real setting event here, not a generic administrative label.

The Iredell local-rules library holds the official text. Its calendar guidance explains why a current Register entry and calendar information should be read together.

Under the local rules, represented parties and their clients need not attend the calendar call or appear until their case is called for hearing. That relief has limits. Follow any court notice or later Register entry. The local procedure simply defines who plays a required calendar-call role before a civil matter is set.

One caution: this local process does not turn every civil document into a public Portal image.

Civil Docket Settings and Hearings

Two tools, two jobs. A civil calendar only schedules; the Register of Actions tells the case story. For a date, run Portal Search Hearings. Then compare the result with the Iredell civil calendar. That calendar comes from an official public route. After a reset or continuance, a current Portal hearing is the safer record to confirm. Do not rely on an old notice.

Superior Court works differently. Its civil procedures build a pretrial calendar of pending, at-issue cases considered ready for review and a tentative trial setting. Each one goes out at least three weeks before the pretrial week. Treat that step as scheduling, not a public daily docket, unless a current official calendar shows otherwise.

Iredell Cleanup Calendar Consequences

A cleanup calendar looks routine. It is not. In Iredell District Civil, an attorney with a matter must appear at calendar call unless a consent order, a voluntary dismissal, or express permission excuses it. Unrepresented parties must attend as well. Miss a regular or cleanup calendar call, and the local rules permit dismissal of the claims or the action. That risk is why a seemingly procedural date still demands prompt confirmation.

Unsure of a current setting? Call the Iredell Civil Department at 704-832-6603. The Clerk office sits in the Hall of Justice at 226 Stockton Street in Statesville, and it is the channel for the county file and certification. A Portal screen alone is not the final official record.

Civil Docket Access Rules

G.S. 7A-109 sets the baseline. It gives the public the right to inspect clerk records, files, dockets, and indexes. In person, the Iredell Clerk opens the county case file and certifies documents. Portal works differently. It carries public information only. Sensitive, sealed, and confidential material stays out of the ordinary view. So does date of birth, masked without elevated access.

The document and case category matter too. Portal limits what domestic-violence files display online. Juvenile records follow separate confidentiality rules. A civil docket search still earns its keep: follow an available case record, locate a court date, or spot a document to request. It just will not put every page of the file on your screen.

Restriction rules. G.S. 1-72.1 supplies the procedure for covered access restrictions. G.S. 132-1.10 addresses removal or redaction of listed personal and financial identifiers from public court-image sites.

The redaction statute source highlights why public court access has content limits.

For a certified judgment or document, use the Clerk rather than an online printout.

Portal Printout and Clerk Copy

A Portal printout is handy. It shows the Register and helps with case tracking. Still, it is not a certified record. The Iredell Clerk holds the county file and can certify an eligible document. When an online result falls short, or an older file needs review, the Clerk's public self-service terminal offers a second channel.

Before calling, narrow the request. Know the case number, the division if known, the document or event date, and whether a plain or certified copy is needed. The Iredell Civil Department at 704-832-6603 can describe the office route. That is where its help stops. Staff cannot prepare legal documents or decide what legal request a party should make. When a Portal image or record block is unavailable, a paper file or the terminal can be the better channel.

Fees follow a statewide chart. The court-cost guidance leads to it. Published charges include $2 for the first page of each document, 25 cents for each additional page, and $3 for a certificate under seal. Ask the Clerk to confirm.

Tell the Clerk what you actually need. Is it the Register, a filed document, or a certified copy? That one detail routes a civil record request correctly. It also separates a status check from an order for a court document, two tasks that run through related but different channels.
